I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since this day! My mom and sisters threw the most beautiful baby shower for me in Birmingham, AL. It really was everything I could have wanted and more. Of course, they did an amazing job with the decorations and the food, and I loved seeing all of my friends and family. But, my mom and sisters also incorporated some unique baby shower ideas that made me feel so special.

I wanted to share with you the three unique baby shower ideas that my family incorporated into my shower so that you can use them, too!

3 Unique Baby Shower Ideas that Will Make a New Mom Feel Special

1. Everyone brought a children’s book

Instead of bringing a card to go with their gift, each guest brought a children’s book to add to Baby Hodges library. Cards are a nice touch, but they always get thrown away. This way, guests could write a note and sign their name in a book that will be a part of Baby Hodges’ library. When we go to read each book, we will be able to tell our baby boy who gifted us the book and how much they love us. I can’t wait to tell him all about our family and friends.

Here are my favorite books that my friends and family brought for Baby Hodges!

2. Everyone shared their words of wisdom

The main event at baby showers (other than eating cake) is watching the mom-to-be open presents! After I opened each present and thanked the person who gave it, the gift-giver then gave me their #1 piece of advice for me as a new mom! I loved hearing all of my loved ones’ perspectives on pregnancy, labor, and of course life with a new baby.

3. Everyone prayed for our family

This is one of my absolute favorite memories from the day. At the end of the shower, my friends and family circled around me to pray for our family and for Baby Hodges. They prayed for peace as we enter this new season, for labor and delivery to go smoothly, and for our future as a family to be blessed! This moment was so emotional and so meaningful to me!

I left my baby shower so full of love and appreciation for my family and friends, and feeling so ready to start this new adventure of motherhood! It already meant so much that everyone came out to celebrate with me, but these new traditions made the day extra special.

Do you have any favorite baby shower traditions? I would love to hear them! Share with me below what has made you as a mom-to-be feel the most special.
