I am so happy to FINALLY share Ryser’s baby boy nursery with you!
I have been looking forward to this day for a long time. With moving to LA, finding a place to live, decorating a whole new space, AND decorating a nursery, it has been such a busy time! I have lived on Pinterest and WestElm.com over the last six months! I wanted Ryser’s space to fit the look of the rest of our house: modern, simple, and clean! I also wanted to incorporate pieces in our baby boy nursery that are not just nursery items so that I can use them around the house if I get the itch to redecorate.
MODERN & CLEAN BABY BOY NURSERY IDEAS
To find the “look” I wanted for the baby boy nursery, I pulled so much inspiration from Pinterest (here is my nursery board!), and from Destination Nursery! Have you seen their Instagram?! It’s beautiful! They curate inspiring interior design content and offer decorating tips for stylish mamas. You can also work with one of their designers one-on-one to help you put your space together. I had the opportunity to work with Tana Hallows and she was amazing!! Their designers can work within a certain budget and source all the pieces to make your dream space come to life. It was so nice to have Tana come on board to help me make a mood board and go through mood board revisions to get to a final design. She sent over links to all of the products we needed and made the process so easy! She even did a FaceTime install with us to make sure everything was going in the best place. I am SO happy with how everything turned out!

I knew it was going to be a tight squeeze to get the nursery finished before Ryser would be here, so I first focused on getting the things I really needed: a crib, mattress, rocking chair, changing table, and rug. I decided to go with the Karla DuBois Wooster Crib in Pure White from Project Nursery. Project Nursery has an amazing selection of high-quality, must-have baby products recommended by experts! I knew that I couldn’t go wrong with one of their cribs. One I had the crib dimensions I settled on the Nook Pebble Pure mattress in Cloud! Their mattresses are all organic, breathable, and even liquid resistant. Amazing!

After picking the crib, I saw that Karla DuBois also has great rockers and gliders. I decided to go with this rocking chair. For the changing table, I found a table from West Elm that is actually a “buffet.” It had the right amount of storage space, and it was the streamlined look I was going for, so I went with it! Pro-tip: your changing table can really be any piece of furniture with storage that fits your space! To finish out the basics, I picked a 5×8 nuLOOM wool rug from Rugs USA.

As you may have seen, I had the Container Store and Organization & Relocation help me to organize Ryser’s closet so that all of his baby products had a place (blog post, here!). After having the closet installed and organized, I couldn’t bring myself to cover it up again with sliding, mirrored doors. With the help of Tana, we decided to instead hang West Elm curtains. The white curtain made the room feel so much bigger and we didn’t have to sacrifice any functionality.

I didn’t intentionally have a safari theme, but as I started gathering decor items, I found that I gravitated toward safari elements. I LOVE these animal prints from Lila x Lola! I thought the lion and the giraffe were so cute. We had them framed with Frame Bridge, which was such an easy process. You can just go online and upload a print and they will do the rest! The framed photo arrives at your door ready to hang on the wall. We went with the Marin natural wood frame, 18x24in. I couldn’t be happier with how they look over the crib and with the mobile.

For the crib, I wanted to mix different textiles for a layered look. In the crib, I opted for a couple pillows from The Ivory Gull, and a Sarah Lou Co (my favorite!!!) woven, chunky blanket. I already have a couple of her blankets in the living room and love them so much.

One of my favorite views in the room is the changing table setup! I love how it turned out with the olive tree in the corner. I had never seen an olive tree in person before now…isn’t it beautiful? It really made the space! We decided to put the tree in a Connected Goods basket for a more natural feel. I also love the simple round mirror and black and wooden frames. We tried a lot of different styling options for the changing table, but opted for something more simple! And of course, I have my Hatch Baby changing pad! It’s seriously amazing. I posted about it here!

I already know that this is my new favorite room in the house, especially this corner! I can’t wait to spend my days rocking Ryser in this chair and reading him books! The photo above the rocking chair in the gorgeous Highland Hardware ois so special to me: it’s from my maternity shoot when Ryser was still in my tummy. I really can’t believe he is now here. To make this corner even more special we decided to put this acrylic shelf up near the rocking chair so that all of his fun books from Chronicle Books would be in easy reach! It’s so incredible knowing that we are going to make so many sweet memories as a new family here!
What do you think about the nursery?! Are you in the middle of decorating your own baby nursery? I would love to hear your feedback and how your own design process is going! As always, thanks for reading. xx, Ashley
